Genre : Post-rock, from Indonesia

Tracklist :

03. display of power 10:03
04. as we progress marching 07:43
05. for a moment, silence 11:45

Marché La Void (MLV), a band based in Jakarta, Indonesia, was started in
2003 by 3 long-time friends: Irwan, Wahyu, and Suryaputra. Hendra was the
next member to join the band, followed by Gerrid and Dave. Later Hendra
was replaced by Febri.

Since the day the band was founded, MLV has been writing and performing
their own songs. Many great artists influence the band in writing their
music, which they described as down-tempo, psychedelic, and ambient. Some
influences are more obvious than others, but all are influential
nonetheless.

In April 2007, Marché La Void released its first EP, entitled Cacophonia.
The 4 song EP was produced and distributed independently. As times goes
by MLV has been rearangging music style and focussing on their instrument
skill hence digging their main roots in instrumental / experimental /
post-rock genre.

As a band, they feel the need to explore our instruments more as an
individual force that driven our music to some sort of journey and
emotional landscape without the use of vocal.

Their debut record, “The Entire City Was Silent,” was recorded all in churches, and has received many positive responses since day one of its release. Including seven tracks ranging from under two minutes to over nine, there is a wide range of emotions and melodies.

The second release, “Dear Monsters, Be Patient” was released for free in 2008 before their first tour. Although they encourage people to buy it, they do not seem to mind free downloading. This was a change in style from TECWS, and has mostly been positively received.

They’re lastest album, “Still, Here” was released in November 2011.

Tracklist :

01. Kitezh
02. Betrayal
03. Battle
04. Sinking
05. Discovery
06. Reflection

Like the desolate yet majestic plains of the arctic north, Tunturia’s sound is at times both harsh and beautiful combining elements of post-rock, ambient soundscapes and experimental noise.

Formed in late 2005 the band quickly became a vehicle through which its members were able to explore concepts and ideas through music. Intricate without being technical, grand in scope without the pretension, lush without losing intensity, the band forged ahead writing new material that at times teetered between the edges of progressive and hauntingly minimal.

Not ones to rest on the accolades or achievements of the past, Tunturia are more anxious then ever to return to the studio and begin work on their follow-up record, the elaborately conceived and atmospherically complex Invisible City.

“Invisible City,” Tunturia’s equivalent of “Chinese Democracy,” will be available on October 28th through Oxide Tones. The album is a narrative based loosely around the Russian folk tale of the City of Kitezh. But don’t let the pretentious subject matter fool you, the record is an enjoyable musical romp touching on ambient, post rock and instrumental sounds which hopefully, unlike “Chinese Democracy,” won’t be a terribly prolonged and bloated musical disappointment.

2. Bardo I
3. Horizon
4. The Skull Hand Smiles / May You Fare Well
5. Bardo II
6. Continuum
7. Luminous Friend
8. Hello From Everywhere
9. Fountain

Blue Hour is the first release by The Drift since the passing of their indelible trumpet player, Jeff Jacobs, but his spirit is undeniably present throughout the album. Without a doubt their most meditative release since their Travels In Constants debut, Blue Hour eases off the jazz and dub influences that had become a trademark of The Drift's sound, and instead focuses on hypnotic repetition and subtle, textural layering of guitars, keyboards, electric bass and drums. Beautiful, fragile melodies descend into sheets of noise atop an unwavering lockstep groove, and the near-silence of a single bass note becomes alternately haunting and near transcendent. It is a cathartic memorial to a dear friend and invaluable collaborator, and the perfect beginning to a new chapter in The Drift's resilient story.

The Drift are an instrumental band based in San Francisco California comprised of Tarentel founding member Danny Paul Grody, Rich Douthit, and Trevor Montgomery. Their music draws upon elements of dub, rock, minimalism, and abstract leanings that combine to create a sound uniquely their own.

Since forming in 2002 the band has released two full lengths (a third on it’s way) and a host of singles to critical acclaim. They have toured extensively in the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan. Over those years the band has had the honor of working with upright bassist Safa Shokrai(2005-08) and trumpet player Jeff Jacobs who joined shortly after the band formed in 2003. Jeff succumbed to a long and courageous battle with cancer in early January 2011. The dedication he gave to music and the band’s development was paramount. He will be greatly missed, but his light shines eternally.

04. Cycle
05. Endings (feat. epic45)
06. Up And The Sky
07. Lost Souls (feat. radical face)
08. Keep Drifting My Heart

Miaou were formed in 1999 by Tatsuki Hamasaki and sisters Mayumi and Hiromi Hasegawa. Throughout the years the band have blurred the line between pop and experimental, adopting ambient synth swells, drones and IDM glitch to craft a dreamy vision of instrumental rock.

Since the release of their debut album, ‘Happiness’ , in 2003, the band continued making new songs and touring though Japan with Art of Fighting, Epic45 and Tracer AMC. Armed with an ever increasing mountain of synths, toy instruments and a fender rhodes, the band released a second album, ‘Make These Things Alright’ , and their ‘painted’ e.p., further blurring the lines between post-rock and electronica.

After their third album, ‘All Around Us’ , came out in 2008, the band toured across Japan, into Taiwan playing the Formoz festival, as well as doing shows in Ireland and the UK. In between recording the band have contributed to Compilations in Japan and the USA, and completed remixes for the likes of Sweden’ s EF and Not Squares from the UK.

Recorded in Tokyo in the Spring of 2011, The Day Will Come Before Long sees miaou push on into more electronic territory than before – bigger synths, broken up samples and glitchy guitars. Mixed by electronic extraordinaire Cornel Wilczek (Qua) in Australia and featuring some achingly beautiful vocals from special guest singers in Ben Cooper (Electric President/Radical Face/Ghost) and Ben Holton (Epic45). Expect to hear swelling synths, crashing guitars and electronic beats making up miaou’s sonic soundscapes.

8. ...and so we destroyed everything (12:33)

Sleepmakeswaves are an instrumental rock band from Sydney, Australia. Drawing influences mainly from but not limited to post-rock, the young quartet mix driving metallic bombast with textured electronics to create a sonic space where delicate melodies and thunderous climaxes peacefully co-exist.

Since their formation in late 2006, sleepmakeswaves have rapidly established themselves as a promising and unique voice in their field. Within the space of a year the band has enjoyed considerable word-of-mouth support and have landed auspicious opening slots with post-rock luminaries such as Pelican, Laura and Meniscus on the back of their powerful live show and acclaimed demo recording.

Finally, SLEEPMAKESWAVES release their debut album ‘...and so we destroyed everything’. The culmination of two years writing and enduring numerous setbacks, the album sees the band at a creative high point.

The album is a dramatic showcase for the band - glittering melodic hooks are embossed by Dax Liniere’s lush production and the band’s heaving musicianship. With an array of memorable and climactic sequences, “...and so we destroyed everything” signals the band’s continued desire to push into new musical territory.

07 Turn Together, Burn Together 4:48
08 Emeralds 3:43
09 The Blue Book 5:28
10 The Little Light Fades 2:57

Emeralds is the new album by guitarist/songwriter, producer and sound architect Robin Guthrie. Another uncompromising step along the path that is his vision, enveloping the listener with the aesthetic enchantment which has become his trademark.

From the opening notes of ‘Digging for Gold’ to the last echoes of ‘The Little Light Fades’, Emeralds takes us on a voyage which moves our emotions, stimulates our senses and leaves us feeling that the world must be a better place seen through the eyes of Robin Guthrie. The album provokes a whole range of emotions from joy to melancholy and back again, never once failing to arouse the imagination of those who become captured by it. With the joyously uplifting ‘Wishing’ and the evocatively haunting melody of ‘Torch’ Guthrie quietly coaxes beauty out of layers of echoes and seemingly invites the listener inside the music to become an integral part of the whole creation. Inspired by events, literature and travel while possessing an uncanny ability to translate his pure emotions into melody,

Guthrie is one of very few rare talents who can create instrumental music which the listener feels part of. His recent instrumental offerings, Sunflower Stories, Songs to Help My Children Sleep, Carousel and Angel Falls, among countless others, illustrate his flair for creating music which seems to touch at the very core of those who consume it. Emeralds follows the release of Bordeaux, an album recorded last summer when minimalist legend Harold Budd joined Guthrie in France for some concerts and recordings. Bordeaux, featuring the two absolute masters of sonic beauty and modern ambient, is quickly becoming acknowledged as a landmark work.

Guthrie has been a massive influence on everyone from My Bloody Valentine to M83 and School of Seven Bells however it's not surprising that as a guitarist and producer, though many people are aware of him as Cocteau Twins principal sound designer, his defining role in the, once again, fashionable shoegazing scene with his productions for the likes of Lush and Chapterhouse shouldn't be overlooked. His recent studio credits include Telefon Tel Aviv, Ulrich Schnauss and Heligoland. As a composer of soundtracks he has recently scored his third feature film: Gregg Araki's Kaboom; following Araki’s Mysterious Skin and Dany Saadia’s 3:19, both of which were released as soundtrack albums; he has performed live extensively with Lumière, and its successor Galerie, both short animated films that he created as backdrops for his atmospheric, hypnotic guitar-based instrumental concerts.

Emphemetry is Richard ‘Biff’ Birkin.

Derby is a small city in the middle of England. About three-hundred thousand people live here. He live in the middle of it, and walk around it a lot at night, after band practices, recordings, or box socials. The usual. There are lots of shortcuts and detours. Narrow streets lit dimly if at all where it doesn’t take much more than a squint and a bit of imagination to imagine past days. He is prone to these flights of time travel fancy.

He made this album while thinking of these things. Wrote it while living them. If you can, He’d don some headphones and listen to it walking around your city at night, perhaps taking a detour or two along the way.

The new album from Emphemetry features ambient swells of guitars, intimate folk songs, a string quartet, strange sounds, tape delay, reverse loops, pianos, and a haunted acappella quintet.

"It is an eclectic mix of ambient, folk and post-rock and it is one that I deeply, deeply enjoyed."
- Fluid Radio

"This album of varied style and influence is equally impressive in all it's forms, with the larger whole held together through a strongly unifying aesthetic." - Collective Zine

"An immense amount of time, care and attention has gone into the making of this album...A quality production full of many surprises and exquisite tracks which will undoubtedly be on my top 10 list of 2011." - Saravan Music

The Organ Hearts is the 3rd full-length album by Arms and Sleepers, following up on the recently released mini-album Nostalgia For The Absolute and the first single, Tusk (featuring a remix by Helios). Written and recorded throughout 2010 and early 2011, The Organ Hearts finds Max Lewis and Mirza Ramic collaborating once again with Ben Shepard (of Uzi & Ari) and Philip Jamieson (of Caspian).

Unlike Matador, the band's sophomore effort, the new record features significantly less guitar and focuses more on electronics and drum-heavy compositions. Pulsing beats and driving synths replace the lush glockenspiels and melodicas of the previous album, while concise song structures and haunting melodies remain. Like Matador, the new record is intense, filled with varying textures and intricate layers, and unafraid to free itself of any genre constraints. The execution feels natural, showcasing the band's musical maturity developed over the past four years, 14 releases, and extensive touring.

The Organ Hearts is divided into three sections, much like the band's debut full-length album, Black Paris 86. Each part acts as a soundtrack for the ever changing daily and seasonal frames of mind, a cinematic reflection of our complex feelings and delicate emotions. In the end, the journey through the record embodies the opposing forces of our actual lives: excitement vs. anguish, clarity vs. confusion, satisfaction vs. longing. Acting collectively through the three sections, these 12 individual compositions paint an arresting picture encapsulating our life's variation and unbearable tenderness, but also evoking a sense of hopefulness that might be waiting around the corner. Nothing is certain, but not everything is lost. The album's poetic subtitle, then, seems to be quite appropriate: The Things That Make Me Feel Weak And Strange Get Engineered Away.
