“IN THE ABSENCE OF TELEPATHY, THERE WILL BE NO TRACES OF US IN OUR HEARTS, AND PERHAPS ONLY IN DREAMS, THE SPLENDOR WILL REMAIN.”

Those are the beautiful words that only Flica can deliver through his music. With the release of Flica’s latest effort, Telepathy Dreams, he explores your soul and mind on a level only he can explore. This self-released ambient and modern classic album takes on a serious musical approach. Telepathy Dreams showcases a darker side of Flica, as compared to his previous releases such as Windvane & Window and Nocturnal.

Listening to this new album would be like a reflection of flipping through black and white photographs, which is both warm and cold. This flipside of intense emotions is prevailed through this 9-tracks album. Flica is taking on an emotional journey and you this album prove to be exceptional. The entirety of Telepathy Dreams is produced, recorded, arranged, programmed, mixed and designed by Euseng Seto a.k.a. Flica himself. Started in November 2008 and completed in June 2009, this album is a musical avant garde. ~whitenoiserecords

flica is an electro-acoustic outfit produced by euseng seto from the evolving music scene of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Born in 1982, he begun his exquisite journey in conceptualizing and producing delicate home-brew music since 2005 with his first electronica duo project muxu with member huat liang.

Having realized the need to explore further and experiment with his own music style, euseng seto started flica in early 2007, solely crafting and producing music on his own. As a result, the subtle sounds that flica creates are exceptionally melodic and uncomplicated, which perfectly mirroring his perceptions towards daily personal feelings on life and nature.

Nocturnal, in much the same vein as his debut, Windvane and Window, is a collection of sparsely-titled snippets of IDM melancholia courtesy of Euseng Seto which promises to warm cockles and melt hearts no matter how low the temperatures outside might be sinking. Fortunately, gone are the wispy and forgettable voices that pervaded his first record and acted as the sole obstacles to its excellence. In their place stand beats of even more delectable glitchiness than ever before and layers of immensely tasteful sampling and keyboard playing, as would perhaps be expected of one for whom both Akira Kosemura and Haruka Nakamura have previously provided remixes.

There is not a single aspect of this album which escapes without being shrouded in a halcyon haze or imbued with a wholeheartedly Keatsian melancholy. Even the kick sounds feel rounded and unobtrusive, in direct contrast to the slightly clinical and aggressive kicks that are often to be found on otherwise similar records. I have no doubt that some will view this similarity of feel and sound across all of the tracks as a hallmark of dreaded predictability, but considering the way in which Flica's work stands out from many others in the IDM crowd in terms of its ability to utilize complexity in an extraordinarily accessible and comprehensible manner, I feel it unfair and, indeed, mistaken to think of it as anything other than consistency.

On the point of complexity, Nocturnal is one of those records which requires particularly intent and repeated listening in order to fully appreciate that it is considerably more elaborate and intricate than first impressions might suggest.

Furniture is the memory of things that never happened, dreams unclaimed, cherished heartbreaks, deliverance by escapism, the reconciliation of regret and hope. Set to the backdrop of panoramic landscapes slowly fading to white, furniture plays the unassuming soundtrack to the best films never made.
FURNITURE isn't exactly new to the Asian local indie music scene. Thanks to its music, influenced by My Bloody Valentine and Mercury Rev, the band's following has grown after adding guitarist/singer/lyricist Ronnie Khoo into the line. With Khoo onboard, the already underway crossover to the English indie scene grew speedier.Furniture's crossover ambition rests on the new direction of its music' part danceable guitar-rock, part grainy snapshots of experimental noise. Famous for pushing sonic boundaries with their guitar experimentalism and an extremely expressive rhythm section, the band recently released their new album Twilight Chases The Sun.
Furniture's debut release, Twilight Chases The Sun, has no radio-length song titles, barely any singing and cryptic CD packaging. There's even a song on the album composed of sound samples created with a typewriter. Everything about the way the album was put together, from the CD case to the music, showcases a band with a very quirky musical approach.
There's a wide range of music styles found on the album, from mellow electronic grooves, hard-rocking guitar overtures to moments of pure noise. In spite of the "compilation" feel of the release, the disparate sons all hold together as one cohesive moody release.
This eclecticism makes it difficult to pigeon-hole the band's music. If you're a fan of music by everything from The Flaming Lips, Aphex Twin, Explosions In The Sky and Mew, you must check out Furniture."There were a lot of things we wanted to try out over the span of the recording period. I think of it as a soundtrack to the same movie, it's still for the same movie but all the songs can be somewhat different in approach," explains Ronnie Khoo, the band's guitarist and singer.

Furniture had played many concerts over Malaysia, Singapore (several time at the famous Baybeat Festival in Singapore and now is ready to invade Europe.

current line up includes: ron, adrian, wan rathnor, alia, alang
past members include: boon, kacy, jeremy
session players include: azmyl, aziz, lee kwang, keng, adlin

flica’s debut album is not one of extremities, but a collection of skillfully controlled heart-felt expressions, creating a sense of serenity that bridges dreams with reality.

windvane and window captures flica’s impeccable ability to balance simple playful musical creativity with subtle, honest emotional depths, combining youthful pop sensibilities with matured artistry.
