Mogwai - Music For A Forgotten Future (The Singing Mountain) (2011) (AWESOME !!!)

Tracklist :

1. Music For A Forgotten Future (The Singing Mountain) (23:09)

This is a bonus CD for the special edition of Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will. The picture is not the real artwork.

This is such a beautiful song, every time you listen to it, you could imagine the world slowly coming to an end. Things collapsing, skyscrapers, houses even mountains. That's just the picture this song paints. For Me ;) The violins at the end is just absolute bliss, the most beautiful thing I've ever heard in a song. 23 minutes long ...of AWESOME-ness !

Mogwai are Dominic Aitchison, Stuart Braithwaite, Martin Bulloch, Barry Burns, and John Cummings. The band was birthed in the halcyon days of the mid-‘90s and helped Glasgow become one of the real bright spots in the musical universe again. Not everyone gets Mogwai, but that’s what makes them great. Theirs is a majestic, powerful sound where barely a word is spoken yet it is the antithesis of background music. Album and song titles bemuse, confuse and delight in equal measure and live, they are utterly unstoppable. Recorded at Chem 19 studios with producer Paul Savage (who recorded 1997’s Mogwai Young Team), Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will is the band’s seventh album. It’s a brave and instinctive album that is charged with an energy, spirit and intensity few can match. It is the sound of a band comfortable in their own skin, but clawing at the edges of their own capabilities, and drawing out something particularly special in the process.

‘Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will’, was recorded over the summer at Chem 19 Studios, in Hamilton and mixed at The Castle Of Doom. ‘Hardcore’ is produced by Mogwai confidante Paul Savage (the man behind Mogwai’s exceptional 1997 ‘Mogwai Young Team’ album) and is the follow up to 2008’s magnum opus ‘The Hawk Is Howling’.

The album will be released on February 15 2011 in the US where Mogwai have recently signed to the illustrious Sub Pop label for North America.

There will also be a Limited Edition version of the album, which includes a bonus CD featuring a 26 minute long piece called ‘The Singing Mountain’ recorded for Douglas Gordon and Olaf Nicolai’s ‘Monument for Forgotten Future’ installation in Essen, Germany

With the ridiculous tracklist for their Roky Erickson-featuring Batcat EP already out there in the world (see: "Stupid Prick Gets Chased by the Police and Loses His Slut Girlfriend"), Mogwai have now revealed the ridiculous tracklist for the EP's full-length follow-up, The Hawk Is Howling.

The forthcoming record contains future classics such as "Thank You Space Expert", "I Love You, I'm Going to Blow Up Your School", and "I'm Jim Morrison, I'm Dead". Methinks Mogwai have been brushing up on their Mclusky.

Batcat comes out September 8 in the UK and September 9 in the U.S. Hawk comes out September 22 in the UK and September 23 in the U.S. Matador handles the U.S. releases, while PIAS/Wall of Sound takes care of the rest of the world.-pitchforkmedia

Mogwai - Batcat [EP] (2008)

Genre : Post-rock
Myspace
Download

Tracklist :

1. Batcat
2. Stupid Prick Gets Chased by the Police and Loses His Slut Girlfriend
3. Devil Rides

With their classic debut all fancily reissued and available for the purchase, Mogwai have recast their gaze towards the future. Their new LP, The Hawk Is Howling, is due September 22 in the UK and September 23 in the U.S. on Matador, and just a few weeks before its release, the post-rock vets will issue a very cool-sounding EP with a little help from a bona fide psych icon. (Via NME.com, confirmed by Matador.)

The Batcat EP begins with a pair of non-album cuts: there's "Batcat", of course, plus the unfortunately titled "Stupid Prick Gets Chased by the Police and Loses His Slut Girlfriend". But it's the closer, "Devil Rides", that really fascinates, as it sports vocal contributions from freakout legend/13th Floor Elevators frontman Roky Erickson. It's due on CD, 12" and digitally September 8 in the UK and on 12" and digitally (not on CD) September 9 in the U.S.
