*STRICTLY LIMITED HAND-PACKAGED TRIPLE 3" CD FROM MOBEER - 300 COPIES ONLY FOR THE WORLD HOUSED WITH A PRINTED MOTEER BEERMAT, EACH COPY INDIVIDUALLY NUMBERED AND ASSEMBLED * Mobeer return with another gorgeous collection of homespun electronics and ambrosian ambience spread across three cd's in one sublime handmade package. Kicking off the hand-wrapped party is Home Normal's Ian Hawgood who gently coaxes us into the collection with a masterclass in long-form ambience. Like a more organic variant of Machinefabriek, this is a deft spread of tracks - textured and frayed, blessed with the most well-tamed of field recording and crackling drones to lull you deep into the comfort of blissed out ambience. Next up we're introduced to the sweet tinkling of a toy piano charmed by Les Mepris, apparently a young Japanese starlet with a sublime line in post-Goldmund meditations that are all the more beautiful for the hint of mystery surrounding the recordings. Rounding up the triptych comes possibly the oddest addition - genuine Japanese feller Ryu Furusawa who convinces us that J-Pop and Aphex-era electronica are a match made in Valhalla. With twinkling music-boxes and padded beats this is the perfect end to a really rather special package - and as usual these never ever last very long so don't sleep! Lovely. ~Boomkat.com

1 Orly

3 The Architekt
4 Twentynine Palms
5 Helvetica
6 The International
7 Simone

9 Words Are For Sleeping
10 The Paramour

Arms and Sleepers began one night in the back of an ambulance in Cambridge. In an alleyway a man was bleeding with a cassette player in hand, the play button still on. What sounded like recordings of a gospel choir blared from the tin speaker, while down the street a jazz band could be heard. The man was dying.

He dropped the cassette player on the cement and closed his eyes, the sound carrying through the air into his ears for one last time. Though this moment in time died with him, his cassette lived on — and Arms and Sleepers were born.

Persistent international touring and constant dissemination of their sounds makes Arms and Sleepers a worthy opponent for the typical temporal constraints that can befall a band. Having issued a series of limited edition releases and the well-received Bliss Was it in That Dawn to be Alive EP (Fake Chapter) in 2007, Black Paris 86 is their debut full-length on Expect Candy Records (DE).

A tight and intense record, listening to it feels like sitting in a cinema, watching landscapes, beauty and tragedy – feeling warm and safe while a hint of mystery seems to whisper that not everything is ok out there.

02 Lokaðu Augunum
03 Brotsjór
04 Við Vorum Smá…
05 3326
06 Til Enda
07 …Og Lengra

Born in 1987, Ólafur hails from the suburban Icelandic town, Mosfellsbær, just a few kilometres outside of Reykjavík. He has immersed himself completely in a world of delicate symphonic compositions generating near weightless orchestral pieces. Arnalds explores the crossover from classical to pop by mixing chamber strings and piano with discreet electronics which makes him a perfect fit for cinematic pop label Erased Tapes. His motivations are clear: “The classical scene is kind of closed to people who haven’t been studying music all their lives. I would like to bring my classical influence to the people who don’t usually listen to this kind of music…open people’s minds.”

Ólafur Arnalds' latest musical adventure - the score for a contemporary ballet called 'Dyad 1909' - is to be released on December 7th, 2009. The soundtrack features seven songs, some of which, reveals Arnalds, are "quite different from what you are used to hearing from me". The piece was premiered at Sadler's Wells in London last month where the composer played 5 sold-out shows in a row. Dyad 1909 choreographer Wayne McGregor describes the sound track as "...an amazing piece of music –it's melancholic and spatial then cuts to extreme rhythmic violence -it's hauntingly inspiring".

'The sound of cracking ice and freezing winds in Olafur Arnalds’s evocative and lyrical score' **** - The Times

'The work is a fascinating collaboration' (4/5) - The Guardian

'Composer Ólafur Arnalds provides an emotional score to this astonishing piece, mixing classical symphonies with avant-garde electronic recordings' - Dazed & Confused

'String quartet, piano and electronics of perfect dis-locational atmosphere' - The Arts Desk

'My composer for Dyad, Icelandic musician Ólafur Arnalds, is coming in next week to finish work on the score. It’s an amazing piece of music – it's melancholic and spatial then cuts to extreme rhythmic violence - it's hauntingly inspiring' - Wayne McGregor (Random Dance)

Tracklist :

1. The Tavern

3. Smiling Bag
4. Agent Cooper
5. Def Zeppelin
6. Dad Rock
7. Firewolf
8. Grandead

Up-C Down-C Left-C Right-C ABC + Start are an Instrumental post-rock band from Kent who have been going since early 2000. They signed to local Indie label Tap n Tin records in 2004 and their first double A side 7" single "Stand shadowless like silence/Sadako's fury (radio edit)" was out on February 14th 2005. This was proceeded by a live Xfm session with John Kennedy on May 5th and their second single "Shallows" (available on 10") on August 1st 2005.

Rocksound Firewolf Review - Although on the outset tongues are firmly in cheeks (the album art looks like one of those wolf T-shirts you see over weight ramblers representing down the local tavern), Upcdownc’s music deserves to be treated with a bit of respect. There are moments of drawn-out doom that tickle the spine, such as the creeping riff of “Smiling bag”, but “Firewolf” is at it’s best when the catharsis gives way to sheer anger. “Black Lodge” expoldes into fits of faraway screaming and the awesomely named “Def Zeppelin” sounds like the onset of a gruesome tribal war. It’s an undeniably stirring offering. 7/10. Michael Copus

The Silent Ballet Firewolf review - Upcdownc have progressed... They have taken their ideas from the previous album and given them an injection of steroids, highlighting the influence of rock music and making it hard to ignore the heavier sound they are creating... An outstanding creation and prove that plenty of emotion can be released in a short span of time. Firewolf is an album that offers something different.

[me]Whoaa... The screaming is a complete surprise ! And what a great surprise ! Awesome !!!

7. Mr. Beat/Street Tax
8. Tension Futura
9. Camco
10. The Punch

From the surreal opening to the feverish end, Fate Unfolds captivates with a tonal palette that is both broad and gripping. Indie kings of the southwest, Tristeza, have been at it for slightly over a decade. Their latest full-length delivers without a drop of disappointment. Fate Unfolds is drenched with the seemingly long lost art of crafting an album that plays as one solid piece. I could pick several ’singles’ that I hear on this record, but to do anything but drop the needle and park it does a huge disservice to the artistry and arrangement of this record as a whole. Herein are huge washes of guitars and synths, layered with drums dubbing back and forth from programmed to acoustic with ease and a backbeat that is anything but ‘indie rock’.

Instrumental bands get a bad rap. It’s mostly because of the Canadian melodramatics that ruined it for everybody in the late nineties. If I didn’t know this record was slated for a release in just a couple months, I don’t know that I could have accurately pinpointed a time period on the recording of these songs. While several production elements hint at a 70s dub feel, there is a mature tension, and raw rock element that is an emergent sound for Tristeza. It’s almost like certain elements invoke the image of Lee Perry slapping hi-fives to Steve Albini behind the mixing console.

Tristeza are also helping spearhead a trend that is integral to the survival and validity of independent music. There will be no US compact disc release of this album. Better Looking Records will distribute the digital format of Fate Unfolds, and Wildlife Vinyl will be pressing the vinyl.

Those are the beautiful words that only Flica can deliver through his music. With the release of Flica’s latest effort, Telepathy Dreams, he explores your soul and mind on a level only he can explore. This self-released ambient and modern classic album takes on a serious musical approach. Telepathy Dreams showcases a darker side of Flica, as compared to his previous releases such as Windvane & Window and Nocturnal.

Listening to this new album would be like a reflection of flipping through black and white photographs, which is both warm and cold. This flipside of intense emotions is prevailed through this 9-tracks album. Flica is taking on an emotional journey and you this album prove to be exceptional. The entirety of Telepathy Dreams is produced, recorded, arranged, programmed, mixed and designed by Euseng Seto a.k.a. Flica himself.
